Jaime Giraldo
- Senior Invention Associate

Jaime joined INVO in 2025. In his role, he partners with the Invention Management team and Northwestern inventors and researchers to translate early-stage science into real-world impact by advising on strategy for marketing and commercialization of intellectual property and industry partnerships across the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences portfolios.
Jaime is a seasoned biomedical engineer with deep expertise in regenerative medicine, translational research, and R&D strategy. Prior to joining INVO, he served as Associate Director of Research at Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), the largest global funder of type 1 diabetes research. In that role, he led and managed R&D portfolios focused on the development of automated insulin delivery (AID) systems and cell-based therapies aimed at curing T1D. He also forged strategic collaborations across academia, industry, and funding organizations to accelerate progress and maximize impact.
Jaime holds a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami, where he conducted pioneering research on immunoprotective polymer coatings for pancreatic islet transplantation. His work advanced the development of cell-based therapies aimed at curing type 1 diabetes (T1D). Jaime has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and brings a rare combination of technical rigor, translational insight, and commercialization experience.
