Northwestern startup bloXroute acquired by FalconX

July 16, 2026

A startup founded on research from Northwestern University's Department of Computer Science has reached a significant milestone with its acquisition by FalconX, a leading digital asset prime brokerage serving institutional investors.

Founded in 2017, bloXroute was launched based on the work of Professor Aleksandar Kuzmanovic and has grown into a leader in blockchain networking infrastructure. The company's technology enables market participants—including market makers, trading firms, validators, exchanges, and developers—to receive blockchain data and submit transactions with greater speed, reliability, and privacy across major blockchain ecosystems.

FalconX announced the acquisition on July 15, saying the combination of bloXroute's blockchain networking infrastructure with FalconX's institutional trading platform will help accelerate the development of next-generation onchain capital markets. As financial assets become increasingly tokenized and traditional and digital markets continue to converge, the combined platform is designed to support institutional trading, liquidity, financing, and prime brokerage services.

"We believe the future of capital markets will be onchain," said Raghu Yarlagadda, CEO and Co-Founder of FalconX, in announcing the acquisition. "As onchain and traditional markets continue to converge, institutions will need a single platform built for both."

Uri Klarman, CEO and Co-Founder of bloXroute, said joining FalconX will enable the company to expand its impact by developing new trading and prime brokerage products supported by FalconX's global distribution and regulatory infrastructure.

For the Northwestern innovation ecosystem, the acquisition highlights the potential for fundamental university research to drive commercial innovation and create technologies with global reach. bloXroute's success demonstrates how discoveries originating in academic research can evolve into ventures that address emerging challenges and opportunities in rapidly changing industries.

INVO is proud to support Northwestern researchers and entrepreneurs as they transform breakthrough ideas into high-impact companies. The acquisition of bloXroute represents another example of the University's growing influence in deep technology entrepreneurship and the commercialization of research.

Congratulations to Professor Aleksandar Kuzmanovic, the bloXroute team, and FalconX on this exciting milestone and the opportunities it creates for the future of digital finance!
